As my research into everything cyborg continues, I finally started reading one of the books I received for Christmas, Edison�s Eve: A Magical History of the Quest for Mechanical Life by Gaby Wood. It is a fascinating history of mechanical beings from ancient automata to MIT�s learning robots - I have a hard time releasing it from my grip. The only thing lacking in this compact tome is pictures. Wood�s text is wonderfully descriptive of the machines, but it leaves me wanting to see a pictures of the things. So, I have conducted a little search and here are some of the automatons described in the beginning of the book:
