New in the reading pile this week:

Misconceptions
Naomi Wolf
The reviews of this book on Amazon are extreme readers either love it or hate it. The ones that hate it seem to have bought into the myths of motherhood and have trouble with ambiguity and struggle. I am really looking forward to reading this one.

Envisioning Science: The Design and Craft of the Science Image
Felice Frankel
I checked this book out of the library for the pictures it's really a photography how-to for scientists. You know, composition, lighting, color, etc. The science images (many are macro shots) used to illustrate the concepts are wonderful to look at and the book design is inspired. I really want to get a Macro lens for my new camera.

Reload: Rethinking Women and Cyberculture
Mary Flanagan and Austin Booth
Academic book titles can be quite misleading. I don't know what you would think this book is about, but it's really a selection of essays on women writing science fiction of the cyberpunk genre.

Children in the Digital Age:
Influences of Electronic Media on Development

Sandra L. Calvert, Amy B. Jordan, and Rodney R. Cocking
This is clearly a Cyborg Mommy topic. Fuel for new work and a new performance perhaps?

In the Realm of the Circuit: Computers, Art, and Culture
Charles H. Traub and Jonathan Lipkin
My academic book rep sent me this title. It's a textbook, but I really like how they have put it together. This is one I will read on all summer maybe propose a class for it...
