Cyborg Kid and I flew to Richmond, VA on Thursday to visit my family. We used to take the sleeper train get on at midnight in New Haven and then wake up and have breakfast as we watched the Eastern Shore roll by. The Twilight Shoreliner. A completely decent and human way to travel. Amtrak has ended the sleeper service that went all the way from Boston to Newport News (and back of course) and now the sleepers stop in DC and are unhitched from the train.

It has been a laid back visit. We are hanging out, running errands, and the weather is lousy. We had hoped for a weekend of sun and swim in Cyborg Grandmas pool. Ah, well. It is good to be here no matter the weather.

I have been recuperating from an extremely hectic semester and ruminating on my summer projects. The book making workshop that I taught at the beginning of May reconnected my hands to my brain again. There is nothing like working with your hands.

This will be the Kids last week of preschool kind of sad, really. She has had a great group of teachers this year and loads of friends. They are all going off to different schools in the fall, so it will be hard to keep them in her life. I am sure we will still run into many of them at the Jewish Community Center, which is one of the many reasons we love that place. We always see people we know it feels like community.
