June 20, 2003
This post is on or about the 6 month anniversary of Cyborg Mommy, the blog. It is nothing short of remarkable that I have been able to keep it up for this long. What is it about this electronic journal that makes it easier for me to keep than the paper counterpart? Is it the public accountability? Is it that there are actually occasional readers?
Like the pioneer woman whose words we read to find out what it was like riding in the covered wagon or setting up house on the prairie, I wish to leave remnants of a story on motherhood and life in the early 2000s. This is not the media picture, the Hollywood fabrication, the sound bite, or the talk show time slot. This is the real woman struggling to keep her marriage together, raise a daughter, make art, make money, and have a life. (A lot to ask, really.)
This blog has not had the quality I wish for it, but it is the beginning and I hope to improve.
