Excursion

I took the train into NYC on Saturday to visit Vector Babe. It's been quite a while since I went into the city just for the fun of it. Delicious. 26 hours without taking care of anyone but myself. Reading on the train and ruminating. Lots of ruminating.

After hanging out at Vector Babe's for a couple of hours we headed out in the bitter cold to the New York Public Library to see a book arts exhibition titled Ninety from the Nineties: A Decade of Printing. Inspiration for the book artist. Then we met a friend in Murray Hill at an excellent Indian restaurant called the Curry Leaf. We watched a Jonathan Creek movie on BBC America and then we crashed.

Sunday morning I languished over the paper New York Times, some very strong coffee, and pastries. Haven't done this since the Little Cyborg was an infant. About 11am I left the warmth to ride the subway uptown to the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum to see another exhibit, the National Design Triennial. Well worth the trek.

After spending a couple hours at the Triennial I headed back to Grand Central Terminal and hung around there for a while until it was time to get on the train back to New Haven. What a wonderful weekend. Now it is back to course prep and the long to do list.

Oh, and I bought a good little book at the Cooper-Hewitt.
